Welcome to the East Riding Citizen Portal
The Citizens Portal allows parents/carers of children, to make applications for school place.
THE PORTAL IS OPEN FROM 01 SEPTEMBER 2025 AND WILL CLOSE AT 23:59 ON THE DATES BELOW:
- 31 October 2025 to start Year 7 in September 2026
- 15 January 2026 to start Reception in September 2026
- 15 January 2026 to start Junior school in September 2026
If your child is resident in the East Riding of Yorkshire, you can use this Portal to apply for a school place before the deadline for applications. If you are resident outside of the East Riding of Yorkshire, please apply to your home local authority - for example Hull City Council or North Yorkshire County Council. Please ensure you have read our guide for parents along with the helpful information on our website before you begin the application process as this will assist you in understanding the process. This can be found here.
You can apply if your child is:
- Due to start Reception at a Primary or Infant school in September 2026 – the deadline to apply is 15 January 2026
- Due to start Year 3 at a Junior school in September 2026 – the deadline to apply is 15 January 2026
- Due to start Year 7 at a Secondary school in September 2026 – the deadline to apply is 31 October 2025
After the deadline has passed for applications, you cannot apply online so after the relevant date above you should contact us to make an application. You will also not be able to change your account details, your child’s details or any details on your application including their address and school preferences.
Registering with this Portal
Before being able to make an application for a school place, you must register and validate your email address from a link in an email we will send you as part of the registration. Please ensure you check your ‘junk’ email folder if you do not think you have received the registration email. Failure to register and validate your account will mean that your account will be locked, and you will be unable to proceed with the application process.
Your Child’s Address
The address you input for your child should be the address at which your child is resident with a parent/carer with parental responsibility for that child. If you have moved address since last using the Portal, you can update your own address by clicking on 'My Account' and then selecting 'Contact Details'.
You will also need to update your child's address details within your application. To do this you will need to access your application by selecting 'school places', select the application and then click 'Change application' where you can amend your child's address on the appropriate page. Please then review all remaining pages and resubmit your application.
Change of address
Changing your admissions address after submitting your school application but before your child is due to start school can significantly affect your chances of securing a place at your preferred or catchment school. We would advise all applicants consider this prior to making an application or moving address as in many cases, such changes result in a place not being able to be allocated at your preferred school or catchment school.
